Project Overview
Moffett Automation transformed storage for Schluter Systems, a globally recognised manufacturer of innovative solutions for tile installation and finished bathrooms
Project Overview
Siggins delivered a high-throughput automated storage solution for Schluter Systems at its Dallas-Fort Worth facility, supporting the end client’s need for faster pallet movement, improved storage density and greater operational control.
Schluter Systems is known for producing high-quality products such as waterproofing systems, drainage solutions, underfloor heating, and tile edge protection, serving both residential and commercial construction markets. With a reputation built on precision engineering and reliability, their logistics operations needed to match the same high standard.
As the automation technology partner, Moffett Automation supplied the shuttle-based automated pallet storage system at the core of the project. The solution combined Moffett Automation Taxi pallet shuttles, Moffett Automation VTUs, conveyor integration and warehouse control functionality to support high-volume pallet movement across storage, picking and dispatch operations.
The project demonstrates how Moffett Automation works with leading integrators such as Siggins to deliver scalable, software-driven pallet storage automation for complex warehouse environments.

Challenges Presented
Overcoming the Challenges of Accelerated Demand
Siggins required a high-throughput automated storage solution capable of supporting Schluter Systems’ growing North American operation. The system needed to increase pallet movement capacity, improve storage density and integrate effectively with wider warehouse processes, including conveyor flow, mezzanine picking and WMS visibility.
The project also required careful coordination between the integrator, end client and automation technology provider. Moffett Automation’s role was to provide a reliable shuttle-based AS/RS platform that could be incorporated into the overall Siggins solution and deliver the performance required within the end client’s operational environment.
Storage Transformed
Shuttle-Based AS/RS Technology Supporting a Siggins-Led Solution
Moffett Automation supplied the shuttle-based automated pallet storage technology for the Siggins-led project at Schluter Systems. The solution was designed to support high-density pallet storage, rapid pallet movement and reliable coordination between storage, conveyors, vertical transfer and picking operations.
At the core of the system are:
- 15 Moffett Automation Taxi pallet shuttles for fast, flexible pallet movement throughout the racking structure.
- 5 Moffett Automation VTUs to support multi-level pallet movement and maximise vertical storage.
- 10 PPT-friendly conveyor sections with infeed and outfeed points to support smooth material flow.
- Warehouse control functionality to coordinate shuttle movement, pallet routing and system performance.
- Mezzanine picking integration linked by a shuttle bridge to support efficient picking at height.
A key feature of the project was the mezzanine picking area on level 4, linked to the automated storage system by a shuttle bridge. This allowed Moffett Automation Taxi pallet shuttles to move materials between storage and the elevated picking area, supporting the wider Siggins solution and improving workflow efficiency for Schluter Systems.
Project Results
The implementation delivered immediate and measurable improvements across the operation:
The collaboration between Siggins and Moffett Automation delivered a high-throughput automated storage solution for Schluter Systems’ Dallas-Fort Worth facility, capable of handling 172 pallets per hour, with 72 pallets per hour inbound and 100 pallets per hour outbound.
Working together, Siggins and Moffett Automation created a system that combined high-density pallet storage, integrated conveyor flow, vertical transfer and intelligent shuttle movement. The solution used 15 Moffett Automation Taxi pallet shuttles, 5 Moffett Automation VTUs and seamless conveyor integration to support fast, coordinated pallet movement across storage, picking and dispatch operations.
The system also supported a complex mezzanine picking area on level 4, linked to the automated storage system by a shuttle bridge. This allowed materials to be moved efficiently between storage and picking areas, improving workflow, reducing unnecessary travel and supporting faster order fulfilment.
The result was a scalable, high-performance automated storage operation that improved pallet flow, strengthened storage density and gave Schluter Systems the throughput capacity required to support continued growth in the North American market. The project also demonstrates how Moffett Automation works collaboratively with integrators such as Siggins to deliver specialist shuttle-based AS/RS technology within larger warehouse automation solutions.
